and some clothes for the girls

a lazy day skirt by Oliver & S, tutorial over here.
one of about 7 i have made. these are very easy and very cute.
and so fast, that you feel like a star, after about 20 minutes of labor!

one of two halter style dresses made using a favorite
dress as a pattern.

i have made some other things, shorts, more dresses, apron style
open back tops from vintage simplicity patterns, lots of fun, not a lot
of photography. hopefully i will get some pictures up soon!

Still Here!

Many moons have passed, and I have often thought of posting blogs about
the different things I've made and the things I've done and the things I've wanted to
do and wanted to make and the things I've seen various places and my newest inspirations.
You know, the highs and the lows and the accomplishments.

But, 6-1/2 Months is a long time, and I can't remember all the things I've wanted to comment on, but here are a few things that have happened, that come to mind right now:

Since the last post, my girls turned 2 and then 2-1/2.

They started school. (and I gained 3-1/2 hours of personal time + nap time)

They have each gained about 5 lbs and 3 or 4 inches in height.

They are really looking like big girls and not babies...

They are still wearing their tutus - almost daily and they are newly (last 2 months) talking up a
storm.

(Halloween '09)

They want mommy to sew them pocket books, blankies, clothes for their dollies, blankies for their dollies, pocket books for their dollies, more tutus and clothes for themselves.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully so far) to make some money selling some of my quilts, but have only been able to complete about 5 (8 if you include the two for my little ones and one gift) since JULY!

I have been making and giving gifts or rather completing gifts that I started over the previous year and a half or so (that i still need to give) and taking on new commissions too.

Not much is getting done.
(or sold)

AND

I need to work on my picture taking and marketing (?)!

It's slow going with only 3 hours a day to myself. So many different things to do in that time.

Mind boggling.

So many different quilts I'd like to make.

Trying to stay focused on what I have started and complete those first.

That's really a killer.

I've also been incredibly inspired this year by different quilters and artists who are doing their own thing all around the world. I'd like to try my hand at everyone else's style, but I also feel like I need to find my own voice. All of this means, I need to do more sewing and to learn more techniques and to continue on my journey...

here are some pictures of the finished and the works in progress and the inspiration
from the past 6-1/2 months or so:

present for Morritz

one for my sister:

wip. now it has a border, and a backing AND some batting, but it's not basted.

the commision - think hexagons, really big hexagons in green!

and for my newest craftdiction, buying other peoples scraps on etsy,
what a thrill, it's like Christmas every time - things
I'd never buy, but love to have just a tiny little bit of!
(one such scrap bag in 2 parts)
