Still Here!

Many moons have passed, and I have often thought of posting blogs about
the different things I've made and the things I've done and the things I've wanted to
do and wanted to make and the things I've seen various places and my newest inspirations.
You know, the highs and the lows and the accomplishments.

But, 6-1/2 Months is a long time, and I can't remember all the things I've wanted to comment on, but here are a few things that have happened, that come to mind right now:

Since the last post, my girls turned 2 and then 2-1/2.

They started school. (and I gained 3-1/2 hours of personal time + nap time)

They have each gained about 5 lbs and 3 or 4 inches in height.

They are really looking like big girls and not babies...

They are still wearing their tutus - almost daily and they are newly (last 2 months) talking up a
storm.

(Halloween '09)

They want mommy to sew them pocket books, blankies, clothes for their dollies, blankies for their dollies, pocket books for their dollies, more tutus and clothes for themselves.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully so far) to make some money selling some of my quilts, but have only been able to complete about 5 (8 if you include the two for my little ones and one gift) since JULY!

I have been making and giving gifts or rather completing gifts that I started over the previous year and a half or so (that i still need to give) and taking on new commissions too.

Not much is getting done.
(or sold)

AND

I need to work on my picture taking and marketing (?)!

It's slow going with only 3 hours a day to myself. So many different things to do in that time.

Mind boggling.

So many different quilts I'd like to make.

Trying to stay focused on what I have started and complete those first.

That's really a killer.

I've also been incredibly inspired this year by different quilters and artists who are doing their own thing all around the world. I'd like to try my hand at everyone else's style, but I also feel like I need to find my own voice. All of this means, I need to do more sewing and to learn more techniques and to continue on my journey...

here are some pictures of the finished and the works in progress and the inspiration
from the past 6-1/2 months or so:

a (prison) smock for mommy!

ha! My dear husband commented that my dress looked like a prison smock. He wanted to clarify by adding that I was definitely in charge at the prison, but prison smock and that the fabric was the most lifeless purple he had seen.

I made this simplicity 2706 dress after seeing this post on burdastyle.com.
I also whipped together a lovely little skirt out of this lovely lavender and black cotton fabric I found at Denver Fabrics. Now all i have to do is get a photo of them, on me. (excuse the self timer portrait)

What a fab weekend of sewing fun!

So comfy. possibly too big, but wonderful on a hot summer day!

I am also make two Oliver + S lazy day style skirts for the girlies.

yippee!

Finally finished!

Another WIP done. It only took me 8 more months and
I figured out how to quilt that vintage sheet quilt and
am giving it away to one of S & P's little girl friends for her second birthday on monday!
yea!

Pillowcase Dresses & Tutus

I've been roving the internet in search of quick and easy summer projects and have stumble upon and completed quite a few...
pillowcase dress and pillowcase style dress
the oliver + S lazy days skirt (a freebee on their site) - of course i made it with ugly fabric as a test...now to use some of that gorgeous uncut stuff in the closet to make beautiful quickie skirts for my girls
and of course how could any nearly two year old girls life be complete without this quickie tutu.

fun fun fun

(and well, now that they are up, they don't want to be photographed)
please excuse our really dingy pjs.
