for my niece's 7th birthday,
this past weekend,
my cheap sister,
decided to host a party
at the embassy suites hotel
and invite 14 little girls
from my niece's school to
the spa themed party.
holy mother...
first, to invite 14 girls to spend
the night is in and of itself, insane.
but then we also went swimming,
watched movies, slept, played,
we made lip gloss in different flavors,
we made soaps with different scents and
colors and sparkles
then we did about 140 little nails worth of
polishing and grooming -
between the three adults,
that was plenty of nails to paint, trust me.
whoa.
whoa.
whoa.

note to self
i know it's not nice to be inspired
by the huge quantity of
low quality and unintesting things out there,
but this week,
i had the opportunity
to go to a Shecky's girls night out event
held in my native new york city
i was excited to go, i thought to myself,
"i love to shop, i hate to admit it, but i think
i know how and where to shop in new york and online,
how to go about finding just about anything
worth finding..."
(either just because i know
or because i've had an even wiser friends
show me their secrets)
"i am going to find an amazing
onslaught of both unbelievable bargains
all in my taste"
(LUCKY/Martha/Domino)
"and in my price range"
one word.
WRONG.
i was so appalled at the lack of
quality and diversity,
that as i walked around, i was beyond shock
each table i passed,
i was only partially filled with
terribly mediocre stuff.
i noticed that the items for sale were
not new or creative as i'd hoped,
nor were they great bargains...
horrible insult, expensive mediocrity
and with probably too much pride,
especially since i know for a fact that
my girlfriends (sister included) and myself
are more talented and capable of creating
better quality goodies with more interesting ideas
i thought
we have just too much talent, and heck,
with all these focused shopping dollars in that room,
we could have made a killing....
ahhhhh
